For the time in French Polynesia and since april the 27th 2015, Avis Bora Bora has launched new electric fun cars 100% charged with solar energy.
That is why we deployed 50 solar panels (2×25) across our two sites — Vaitape and Matira — for a total installed capacity of 16.5 kWc covering approximately 63 m². On sunny days, our installations can produce up to 50 kWh per day. For cloudy days, we store energy in 30 kWh of batteries (20 kWh at Vaitape, 10 kWh at Matira).
During the day, our vehicles are charged directly with the energy we produce and we sell back the excess production to the local network.
After one year of operation we have a very positive balance: we produce approximately 16,500 kWh for a consumption of 7,000 kWh — more than double our needs.

Limited to 45 km/h and without a licence, it allows you to travel freely and safely around Bora Bora while respecting the environment.

We launched our solar electric adventure in 2015 with the Renault Twizy — then one of the only fun electric cars available on the market. For nearly 8 years, the Twizy became the iconic symbol of eco-friendly tourism in Bora Bora. In 2022, we made the transition to the Eli Zero: a newer, more comfortable and more modern vehicle. The key improvements: passengers sit side by side (far more enjoyable as a couple) and the cabin is air-conditioned — a real bonus in the Polynesian heat. It keeps everything we loved about the Twizy — two seats, no licence required, charged with 100% solar energy.
