Bora Bora is easy to explore by road: a single 32 km ring road circles the main island. Here is everything you need to rent a car, an electric Fun Car, a scooter or an e-bike with Avis Bora Bora.
From the airport (Motu Mute) : the airport is on a motu north of the lagoon. Air Tahiti's free shuttle boats take all passengers to the Vaitape wharf. Our Vaitape office is 30 metres from the landing — you see us as soon as you step off the boat. No taxi or transfer needed.
From the cruise wharf : cruise tenders land at the Vaitape wharf, 50 metres from our office. We offer 4 h and 8 h packages tailored to the length of your stopover.
From a main-island hotel : for any rental ≥ 6,000 XPF, and for scooters, the transfer between your accommodation and our office is free, both ways. Select your hotel when booking for the pick-up transfer; the return transfer is arranged at the office. Most guesthouses, villas and hotels on the main island are eligible.
From a motu hotel : Four Seasons, St Regis, Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts, Conrad and InterContinental Thalasso are on isolated motus. The free transfer does not apply. Take your hotel's boat-taxi (not included) to reach Vaitape, then walk to our office (50-100 m depending on the landing).
Two offices open 7 days a week: Vaitape, in the village centre on the main wharf (8 am to 5 pm), and Matira, in the south of the island near the beach and hotels (8:30 am to 5 pm). You can pick up at one and return to the other.
Mileage is unlimited on the 32 km loop, whatever you drive: cars from economy to a 9-seat minibus for families and groups, silent electric Fun Cars charged by our solar panels, 50cc scooters for two and e-bikes for a gentle ride.
Traffic drives on the right. The speed limit is 60 km/h, and 40 km/h on many sections. Our rental cars are reserved for the ring road and paved roads: mountain roads, dirt tracks and beaches are excluded from the protections. Route ideas: the island tour in one day.
Minimum age: 21, with a licence held for at least 1 year (young driver option under 25); 18 for licence-free vehicles. Bring your driving licence (or an identity document for a licence-free vehicle) and a credit card in the driver's name. Third-party liability insurance and the Standard Protection (damage and theft, with excess) are included in every rental. The security deposit takes the form of a card imprint: no amount is debited, except with a prepaid card. The Enhanced Protection SCDW removes the excess and the Ultimate Protection adds wheels, tyres, glass and keys.
